About TeaSteep

TeaSteep exists because "steep 3–5 minutes" is not brewing advice — it is giving up.

Tea is the most temperature-sensitive drink in the kitchen: the same leaf turns sweet, bitter, or astringent within ten degrees of water temperature. Every tea worth drinking has a known sweet spot, and every good tea shop prints it on the tin. The database collects those sweet spots in one place, grouped the way you shop.

The entries are deliberately practical: water temperature, time, leaf weight, resteep potential, and caffeine — plus the two sentences that explain what the tea tastes like and what going wrong looks like.

We are drinkers and educators, not a tea shop. Nothing here sells leaves, and no account follows you around the site.

What makes TeaSteep different

• Your numbers never leave your browser. Every calculator on TeaSteep runs entirely on your device. We never see, store, or transmit the figures you enter — there are no accounts and no server-side processing of your inputs.
• Published methodology. Each calculator page explains the exact formula it uses and the assumptions behind it, so you can check our work or reproduce it in a spreadsheet.
• Free, forever, without a paywall. TeaSteep is supported by advertising. There is no premium tier, no email gate, and no upsell.
